*the mind of cancer*

2004-06-15 and it was 12:19 p.m. when I wrote this:

“Cancer occurs when normal cells multiply (proliferate) faster than normal, lose their ability to differentiate (remain immature), and have diminished apoptosis (cell death) rates. Cancer cells are primitive in that they haven’t grown up and become skin, or bone, or liver, or uterus--in medical terms they are undifferentiated. At the stage where they would normally keep developing into a specific type of cell, they divide instead into another primitive cell. This is because something in the genetics of the cell that gives instructions on how to differentiate, or mature, is broken; communications have become faulty. This miscommunication is usually caused by damage or some sort of toxic environment within the cell sufficient to affect the cell’s chromosomes (genes).

-The first stage of cancer is known as initiation. This is when the initial damage or modification of the genetic material of a normal cell occurs.

-The second stage of cancer, called promotion, involves the expansion of the tumor cell population to the point where it begins to interfere with the normal workings of the body.

-The third stage of cancer, known as the progressive stage, is the final stage of the disease. In this stage a distinct tumor grows in size; invades surrounding tissues, blood vessels, and lymphatics; and migrates to (metastasizes) and grows in other tissues of the body.” (What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer, by John R. Lee, M.D.; David Zava, Ph.D.; and Virginia Hopkins; pp. 45, 47, 48, and 54).

So this was sent to me in an email. It has comparisons to other things in life. Mainly I am talking about spiritually. It helped me see. This email came from a couple in Israel. They send out mass emails quite a bit. I guess mass is the right word. Well I hope to be going back there soon.

We worry so much. We just worry. I never thought I would worry so much but the older you get the more prone because the more responsibilities and outward appearance of how you are doing matters. Are you a go getter?? People want to be around people who are happy all the time right?? SOme people would rather people be negative just like them. But we should honestly seek the kingdom...but what is the kingdom?? sounds like such a spiritual phrase and one to be used by religious go to church every sunday type people. So is there a negative connotation or bad rap the every group a person belongs to gets?? The desire to want to be a part of a certain type of person group...now what is that?? It could be a church, a label such as skater, goth, gay, gang member...etc....A sense of belonging. But with that belonging comes rituals?? yeah?? So many rites out there and by doing them does this mean that we are justified as being part of that group by partaking in some activity?? One could say you are part of something because of the prestige it gives you or because of how it makes other people look at you. Now what's that all about?? But being what you were created to be by God...and being in relationship with him...do all these rituals and labels come along side with good and bad characteristics to believing in him. SO what's the upside to being a believer??? What's the downside?? Is there such an aura that there is an upside and a downside just like picking this class instead of that...of going here instead of there???

So what't all the hype about the way and the outward appearance of a christian. There is a movie saved coming out. Where did they get the info to create such a movie?? And what does a christian look like, dress like, act like, speak like?? And so this whole deal about race....we were created as part of different races yet there are those preachers who say that GOd does'nt look at color and he loves us the way we are. So if God doesn't look at color then why'd he create it??? So in a sense humanity as a whole is the same and what is it that makes humans unique?? is it just the fact we have different finger prints?? Or is our skin color and who we grew up behind our race have anything to do with anything. According to some people we should all be the same and there is no difference..there should be no difference but those people, one could say, merely tolerate others and do not like being uncomfortable in a sea of diversity while around those who do their so called cultural thing yet it's a part of them.

And what does success look like?? Are christians successful??? Are other unbelievers successful?? Are you successful and why do you think so?? Is that word used too much to indicate something material? Is material secular? Is secular a religious word??

Somethings to ponder about.
